Timing unknown (2007?) - new national numbering plan
BTRC, the Bangladesh regulator, announced in April 2006 that a revised numbering plan would be introduced "shortly". No specific dates of implementation were indicated.
The plan features consolidation of area codes and standardisation of national number lengths to 10 digits (area code plus subscriber number, excluding prefixes).
International calling into Bangladesh is expected to be in the following formats:
International format Service/carrier
-------------------- ---------------
+880 1x xxxxxxxx mobile numbers
+880 2 T xxxxxxxx BTTB (incumbent carrier)
+880 3x T xxxxxxx other carriers

In the above table, the T digit represents the consolidated zone code, identifying the region of Bangladesh:
Zone code Area
--------- ----
