No substantial changes, but a few new ranges noted:

May 2004 - new GSM numbers

+592 640xxxx was introduced for GSM mobile cellular numbers.

GT&T GSM ranges become: +592 640xxxx, +592 641xxxx, +592 642xxxx, +592 612xxxx.

11 February 2004 - new Georgetown numbers

+592 218xxxx range was added to Georgetown on 11 February 2004. This is apparently a new range, rather than a change to existing numbers.

1 February 2001 - national renumbering

Guyana has switched to a new 7-digit national numbering plan, replacing the previous system of area code plus subscriber number. This means area codes have been eliminated in favour of a national subscriber number of consistent format.

Some areas changed to the new national 7-digit system since 15th January 2001. The major centres of Georgetown and New Amsterdam switched for 1st February 2001.

There is a three month permissive period for callers into Guyana during which the old numbering will be allowed as well as the new numbering, presumably expiring approximately May 2001.
