31 December 2004 - mobile numbers in 8-digit format
Mobile numbers in Jordan were standardised to an 8-digit format, +962 7 xxxxxxxx, as of 31 December 2004.
Migration details from previous numbers was not indicated, although it is likely that the last digit of the former mobile area code was prepended to the subscriber number - e.g. +962 79 5xxxxxx could have become +962 7 95xxxxxx.

12 April 2002 - GSM mobile number changes
On 12 April 2002, '5' was prepended to existing GSM mobile subscriber numbers. Area codes remained unchanged at this time. This included Fastlink's pre-paid users (on +962 79). For example, +962 79 xxxxxx became +962 79 5xxxxxx.

A National Numbering Plan and guidelines document is available from TRC. The publication date was not specified, but the document made reference to studies conducted in 2002.
Short codes are of format 1xx (with provision to expand to 1xxx format).

The time at which this was expanded to 7-8 digits is unclear; an announcement by regulator TRC in July 2001 indicated 7-digit subscriber numbers in effect for both fixed and mobile subscriber numbers.
