26 January 2005 - Colonia 3 de Mayo numbers changed

Numbers were changed in certain locations:

Area code in Colonia 3 de Mayo was changed from +595 5478 to +595 547 on 26 January 2005.

'25' was prepended to the existing 3-digit subscriber numbers, and new subscriber numbers were made available.

Former number range was +595 5478 210 through +595 5478 299.

New number range is +595 547 250210 through +595 547 250337 (new subscriber numbers presumably opened from 250300 to 250337).

10 January 2005 - new number range in Friesland

New Friesland numbers in +595 318 219xxx (subscriber numbers 219000 through 219127 are new).

19 November 2003 - Caapucu area code and subscriber number changes

Caapucu numbers were changed on 19 November 2003 from +595 5368 2xx format to +595 531 280xxx (area code changes from +595 5368 to +595 531, while subscriber number expands to 6-digit 280xxx format). It is unclear to what extent the old subscriber numbers were incorporated into the new 6-digit numbers, or which numbers were changed entirely for the new format.

November-December 2003 - various local changes

Numbers were changed in some specific communities due to introduction of digital facilities. 6-digit subscriber numbers replaced the 3- or 4-digit numbers in these cases. Some new numbers may be introduced in the new format, or some changes to subscriber numbers may not necessarily be a straightforward prepending of digits to the old subscriber numbers.

General information

According to a CONATEL numbering plan document of May 2002, national numbers are to be standardised at 9 digits (area code plus subscriber number, excluding country code and any prefixes). Mobile number area code will be 9 followed by 8-digit mobile subscriber number.
