October 2011 - new country, new country code

South Sudan was formed from the former territory of Sudan. It was assigned telephone country code +211. Access to this region was previously under Sudan +249, except for Gemtel whose mobile numbers received access from Uganda (+256 477 xxxxxx) since 2006.

Gemtel introduced its fixed numbers under +211 on 1 October 2011, MTN numbers on 15 October 2011.
